Efficacy of an Early Self-care-Based Education Program on the Self-evaluation of Primiparous Postpartum Mothers: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

Background: During the postpartum period, due to lack of knowledge about complications and care, women, especially primiparous adequate skills adapt new conditions have no confidence care for themselves their infants. The early mothers' assessment, education, counseling, nursing interventions can increase adaptation reduce incompatible responses infant partner. Objectives: This study aimed examine effect self-care based education program on women’s self-evaluation. Methods: A randomized controlled clinical trial was conducted from May October 2018 58 women referred Neonatal Screening Center in Karaj (IRAN). random allocation method applied select intervention control groups. data were collected using a three-part questionnaire consisting general, developmental, health deviation evaluation made by researchers. group received three sessions throughout 3 - 5, 10 15, 17 22 days after childbirth. routine care. Data analyzed descriptive statistics (such as mean, standard deviation, absolute frequency) statistical tests (including t-test, paired chi-square) or non-parametric (e.g., Wilcoxon Mann-Whitney test) SPSS version 19. Results: Before intervention, there statistically significant difference mean total self-evaluation scores between (131.269 ± 12.742) (137 9.600) groups (P-value = 0.073), but six weeks delivery, observed (149.692 7.625) (122.923 11.495) < 0.001). Conclusions: results this showed that effective women's increased women.
